Patches

The NCCS offers various programs to assist Scouts of all ages learn more about their faith. View the current offerings on the NCCS website. It should be noted that these are activity patches, not religious emblems, and as such the Scout is not eligible for the BSA religious knot.

The most recent is a series of patches recognizing the lives of American Saints—Footsteps of American Saints.

For several years now the NCCS has offered  the NCCS Rosary Patch Program which promotes the study of the mysteries and prayers of the Rosary. There are a series of patches to be earned.

Every two years there is an opportunity for older scouts to go to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico for the St. George Trek. Bishop Gettelfinger has been one of the leaders of this trek for the past several years.  The next trek will be in the summer of 2011.  If interested, contact the Scout Chaplain, Deacon Charles Koressel.

Every year the NCCS conducts a training course for adults at Philmont Scout Ranch.  The course explains in detail how the Catholic Church uses the scouting program, as ministry, to promote the Kingdom of God.  Activities are provided for other family members including children of all ages.
