irect Services are programs orchestrated through the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the direct benefit of adolescents or young adults.
YOUTH TEAM: All high school aged youth and appointed parish youth leaders are invited to join the YOUTH TEAM. The TEAM meets 6 times a year to determine pastoral needs, release giftedness of the youth, and to coordinate the theme, activities, and speakers for the semi-annual YOUTH DAY. Meetings are held on Sundays, between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM Central Standard Time at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Oakland City, IN. The Youth Team is a laboratory for leadership development and catechesis. The TEAM is based on a model of a parish pastoral council and strives to develop collaborative, consensus, and leadership skills within youth. All are welcome.
YOUTH DAY: Last Sunday of September and Last Sunday of February. Locations to be announced. Youth Day begins with registrations at 11:30 am (Central Time) and the day ends with Evening Prayer at 9:00 PM (Central Time). The day's activities include:
Cost fluctuates, but is never less than $8.50 or more than $12.50 per person. Reservations MUST be made through Carolyn or through the Catholic Center Offices.
World Youth Day 2000:We will not be attending this event as a diocese. Please contact the Office of Youth and Young Adult Formation for more information.
REGION 7 MEETINGS: First Monday/Tuesday of October, January, and May. Overnight trip to Chicago area. Meet with adults and youth from over 15 dioceses from the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin.
NATIONAL CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERENCE: November 20-23, 1999. St. Louis, MO. The Diocese of Evansville will take two buses to St. Louis. There are 96 slots available for the trip. $50 deposit and registration due by September 10, 1999. Final payment and registration due October 1, 1999.
Cost: $280.00, includes bus fees, hotel, conference fees, t-shirt, and one meal. Monies for meals and extras are the responsibility of the participant. Register through Carolyn.
