The Diocesan Adult Formation Endowment
What is an Endowment?
An endowment is a gift of money or other property (stocks, insurance proceeds,
securities, or real estate) invested to produce ongoing income for a specific
purpose. Income from such a fund is perpetual and will continue to grow over
centuries to come. Each year, a portion of the annual earnings is used to fund
the financial needs of the Office for Adult Formation (scholarships, special
speakers, and workshops). The donations to the endowment and the remainder of
the annual earnings are re-invested for future growth. Financial planning
professionals, through the Catholic Foundation of Southwestern Indiana, manage
the endowment and determine the annual payment to the Office for Adult
Formation.
Why an Endowment?
An endowment is useful in long-range planning. The Office for Adult Formation
Endowment will strengthen the future of the Catholic Church in southwestern
Indiana by providing opportunities for ministerial training. The pooling of
funds within this endowment ensures ongoing income for an ever expanding program
of training.
