PRESBYTERAL MODERATOR

Title: Presbyteral Moderator

Status: Exempt

Accountable to: Bishop of the Diocese of Evansville

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Presbyteral Moderator is appointed by the bishop of the diocese to provide

oversight and support for the parish. He is given the rights and responsibilities of a

pastor for canonical purposes. He is accountable to the bishop and collaborates

with the Pastoral Life Coordinator.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Provides oversight for the pastoral care for the parish and in that capacity to seek

to be informed of the parish life, needs, growth, and development

B. Assists the Pastoral Life Coordinator in the regular evaluation of the

effectiveness of parish ministry

C. Ensures observance of all canonical/diocesan policies

D. Is available to the Pastoral Life Coordinator for information, advice,

clarification, mutual support as needed

E. Assists and supports the role of the Pastoral Life Coordinator.

F. Assists in the establishment and development of ministerial goals and plans for

the Pastoral Life Coordinator.

G. Exercises these responsibilities in a spirit of collegiality and subsidiarity.

H. Meets regularly with the Pastoral Life Coordinator
