LIMEX
Loyola University Institute
for Ministry Extension Program
Introducing the LIMEX Program offered through the Diocese of
Evansville,
Office for Adult Formation.
What Is LIMEX?
The Loyola Institute for Ministry Extension (LIMEX) offers a means for students
in the tri-state
to earn a
master's degree in one of several religious studies disciplines. Students not
yet holding
bachelor's degrees may
earn a certificate in continuing education in these same areas.
Loyola University is a Jesuit operated university in New Orleans founded in
1912. Within Loyola
University,
The Loyola Institute for Ministry prepares women and men for ministry and
leadership
in the Church. The
extension program, founded in 1983, offers a Loyola University degree or
certificate to persons who wish to
study but cannot attend the New Orleans campus.
Why Does The Church Need LIMEX?
Through LIMEX, the Diocese of Evansville is assured that quality, well-trained
persons will be
available to
work at a professional or para-professional level in the Church's ongoing work
of
educational and pastoral
ministry.
LIMEX also assures the laity will be able to address itself
to broad ministry
roles in the diocese,
in the schools, in outreach organizations, and in your
parish.
Why Do I Need LIMEX?
By challenging yourself to learn more about your faith in a strenuous setting,
you will be able
to offer
confident
leadership within the Roman Catholic Church of the 21st century. Lay persons
are
accepting
roles
never imagined
100, 50, even 25 years ago. Credible knowledge of Sacred
Tradition, Scripture,
the Church
institutions, and
personal and socio-cultural ministry are crucial
to the coming age. LIMEX
broadens your
horizons and provides a laboratory for learning and
practice.
How Does LIMEX Work In The Diocese Of Evansville?
Classes are scheduled by the group, given the parameters of Loyola University.
Classes meet at
various
locations
throughout the Diocese. Class size is 10-15 students who remain as a learning
group throughout
the entire degree
program of twelve courses. Classes can be completed in four

LIMEX allows
you to fully explore your life and calling in relation to insights gained
through
course
work,
discussion, and practice. LIMEX will help you assume responsibility for your
learning and become
intentional in
your practice of ministry.
Ministry Always Takes Place Within A Context.
Be attuned to where you are and to whom you speak.
LIMEX assists you in understanding the process of spiritual formation. As a lay
minister, you live
in a
particular
area, attend a particular church, interact with particular people. Each
attribute
brings a unique
offering to
your ministry. Through LIMEX, you can explore the distinctive
characteristics of
various
church institutions and organizations, as well as your social and
cultural surroundings.
